WANSHIDA supplied one Y83-315 hydraulic scrap metal baler to a scrap processing center in Lithuania. Featuring a 600 × 600 mm bale cross-section, the machine provides a way to prepare suitable loose scrap for more organized handling and storage.
At a scrap processing center, material must move through several stages—from collection and sorting to storage and dispatch. Irregular loose scrap can be difficult to gather and position, making its physical form an important consideration when planning equipment.
For this project, the Y83-315 configuration combines a spacious loading chamber with a defined bale cross-section, connecting scrap compression with subsequent material handling.

The 2500 × 2000 × 1200 mm loading chamber provides space for loading suitable scrap before compression. Material dimensions, thickness and strength determine whether preparation is needed before feeding.
The 600 × 600 mm bale cross-section gives the compressed material a more regular form. This provides a useful basis for planning bale collection, storage and loading. Complete handling arrangements also depend on bale length and weight.
Siemens PLC control coordinates the configured operating sequence, supporting repeated baling operations.
This project demonstrates the importance of considering what happens after scrap leaves the baler. Matching the finished bale to the available handling equipment and the receiving facility’s requirements helps integrate baling into the overall workflow.
