A metal recycling company in Switzerland required a powerful and reliable solution for processing mixed steel scrap, long profiles, pipes and irregular structural metal.
The customer needed more than a standard hydraulic scrap shear. Due to strict local electrical and safety requirements, the machine had to be customized for the Swiss market while maintaining stable cutting performance, convenient transportation and long-term operating reliability.
After reviewing the customer’s material conditions, loading method and expected application, we recommended the Q43W-4000 hydraulic container shear.
The customer paid particular attention to machine safety, electrical compatibility and operational convenience. The main project requirements included:
• 4000 kN hydraulic cutting force
• 1400 mm shear blade
• 400 V, 50 Hz electrical system
• Operating current controlled within the customer’s required range
• Soft starter and frequency converter
• Remote-control operation
• Rear rollers for easier movement and positioning
• Adjustable leveling bolts
• Centralized lubrication system
• Additional protection for the hydraulic power unit
• Customized electrical cabinet position
• Eight sets of spare shear blades
• Special RAL 4003 pink surface finish
The bright pink color created a strong visual contrast with the heavy industrial structure, making the machine highly recognizable in the customer’s recycling yard.
Based on the customer’s technical documents, our engineering team adjusted the machine structure and electrical configuration.
The Q43W-4000 was equipped with a soft-start system and frequency converter to reduce electrical impact during motor startup and support smoother operation. The electrical system was designed according to the customer’s local power supply and current limitations.
Rear rollers and leveling bolts were added to help the customer position and stabilize the machine after arrival. The electrical cabinet was relocated according to the customer’s site layout, while protective covers were installed around the hydraulic power unit to improve safety and reduce exposure to dust and external impact.
A centralized lubrication system was also included to simplify routine maintenance and ensure that key moving components receive consistent lubrication.

During production, the machine structure, hydraulic system and electrical components were manufactured according to the confirmed technical drawings.
Before shipment, the Q43W-4000 underwent a complete trial operation. The testing process included hydraulic pressure inspection, cutting-cycle testing, remote-control testing, electrical current monitoring and safety-function verification.
The machine successfully completed repeated cutting cycles, demonstrating stable hydraulic pressure, smooth blade movement and reliable PLC control.
The customer also received operating videos, machine photographs and technical documents for final confirmation before delivery.
The completed Q43W-4000 combined heavy-duty cutting performance with a highly customized configuration for the Swiss market.
Its integrated container structure allows the customer to load bulky and irregular scrap directly into the chamber. The hydraulic pressing and feeding system controls the material before cutting, helping produce shorter and more manageable scrap pieces for transportation, storage and furnace feeding.
The special electrical configuration, safety protection and maintenance features made the machine better suited to the customer’s long-term operating conditions.
This Switzerland project demonstrates our ability to provide more than a standard scrap shear. From structural modifications and electrical customization to documentation, testing and spare-parts preparation, each detail was completed according to the customer’s actual requirements.
The Q43W-4000 offered the customer a practical balance between cutting force, feed opening, energy consumption and installation flexibility.
Compared with smaller alligator shears, it can process larger and more irregular scrap with less manual preparation. Compared with a large stationary gantry shear, its integrated container design requires a more compact installation area and can reduce complicated foundation work.
For recycling companies processing steel profiles, pipes, plates, reinforcing bars and mixed ferrous scrap, the Q43W-4000 provides a reliable solution for improving scrap-handling efficiency and reducing material volume.
