The Y83-4000 metal briquetting press is designed to compress loose cast iron chips and sawdust into dense cylindrical briquettes. With a nominal pressing force of 4000 kN and a specific pressure of 260 MPa, it produces Ø140 × 300 mm briquettes without adding binders.
Loose machining chips occupy considerable storage space, are difficult to transport and can cause material loss during handling. After briquetting, their volume is significantly reduced, making the material easier to store, transport and feed into a melting furnace.
Powered by a 30 kW or 37 kW hydraulic system, the machine processes approximately 800–1200 kg of cast iron chips per hour. It is suitable for machining plants, foundries, automotive component factories and metal recycling facilities with medium-to-large volumes of machining waste.
Cast iron machining produces large quantities of loose chips and fine metal sawdust. These materials have a low bulk density and may contain cutting fluids, creating several problems:
The Y83-4000 uses high hydraulic pressure to compact loose cast iron chips into solid, uniform briquettes. Their higher density simplifies material handling and allows more scrap to be transported within the same space.
The compact cylindrical shape also supports more controlled furnace charging. Compared with loose chips, briquettes are less likely to scatter during handling and can help reduce oxidation loss during remelting.

The Y83-4000 metal chip briquetting machine is suitable for:
Its standard application is the briquetting of cast iron chips and sawdust. Steel, aluminum, copper and other machining chips require technical evaluation because different materials need different pressure, chamber and feeding configurations.
The high-pressure hydraulic system compacts low-density metal chips into firm briquettes that are easier to handle and recycle.
The large cylindrical briquettes are convenient for storage, transportation and furnace charging. Their uniform shape also simplifies material counting and handling.
The machine is suitable for factories that continuously generate substantial quantities of cast iron machining waste.
Briquettes are formed through hydraulic compression without adding adhesives or chemical binders, preserving the recyclability of the metal.
Higher-density briquettes occupy less space than loose chips, improving warehouse utilization and vehicle loading efficiency.
The reinforced frame, wear-resistant compression chamber and heavy-duty hydraulic components are designed for long-term industrial operation.
Cast iron chips are fed into the machine manually or through an optional conveying system. The feeding mechanism transfers a controlled amount of material into the compression chamber.
The main hydraulic cylinder then applies high pressure to compact the chips. Under a specific pressure of up to 260 MPa, the loose material is formed into a dense cylindrical briquette without binders.
Once pressing is complete, the finished briquette is discharged automatically. The machine then begins the next feeding and compression cycle.
The Y83-4000 is recommended for operations processing approximately 800–1200 kg of cast iron chips per hour and requiring Ø140 × 300 mm briquettes.
Before confirming the machine, buyers should provide:
Material samples, photos or videos can help determine whether preprocessing equipment such as a crusher, centrifugal oil separator or storage silo is required.
The machine can be equipped with:
Optional equipment can be selected according to the material condition and required level of automation.
The machine is supplied with operating instructions, electrical diagrams and installation guidance. Remote assistance is available for commissioning, operator training and troubleshooting.
Overseas engineer service can be arranged when required. Spare parts and wearing components are available for long-term maintenance. The standard warranty period is 12 months under normal operating conditions.
Its standard application is cast iron chips and sawdust. Other metal chips can be processed after the material and machine configuration have been technically evaluated.
The typical capacity is approximately 800–1200 kg per hour. Actual output depends on material density, oil content and feeding conditions.
The standard finished briquette size is Ø140 × 300 mm.
No. The chips are formed into solid briquettes through high-pressure hydraulic compression without additional binders.
Yes. It can be equipped with conveyors, crushers, oil separation devices, storage silos and automatic discharge systems for continuous production.
